SECONDHAND SEPTEMBER IS HERE!
-Second Hand September is Here!-
Second Hand September was launched by Oxfam in 2019 to shine a light on sustainable fashion and reduce the environmental impact of clothing production. And of course, here at The Whiskey and Sage House, we are all about second hand—so this month, we’re celebrating it in our own way!
Here are a few easy ways to join in:
Shop Second Hand
Visit your favorite local thrift and vintage shops (like ours!), or browse secondhand platforms like Poshmark, Depop, and eBay. Every time you choose preloved, you’re keeping textiles out of landfills and reducing the demand for new production.
Host a Clothing Swap
Round up your friends and trade pieces you no longer wear. It’s a fun, social way to refresh your wardrobe and give items a new home.
Repair + Reuse
Before tossing something out, try a little TLC. Learn a few sewing basics or drop your pieces off with a local tailor (we recommend Whitney Marshall in Limestone, TN!). A simple fix can give your clothes years of extra life.
Donate Unwanted Clothing
From local thrift stores to church organizations, Greeneville has plenty of spots to donate. Your donation not only keeps clothes in circulation, but also helps neighbors in need.
Second Hand September is a reminder to shop with intention. Once upon a time, clothing was made to last—thoughtful, durable, and filled with purpose. These days, fast fashion encourages us to throw things away and buy new every week (sometimes every day).
That’s why we love vintage and second hand so much—they carry history, quality, and soul. And maybe we’re a little biased, but we think vintage is the best second hand there is.
So let’s make September a month of mindful shopping, community support, and finding treasures that truly last.
Keep huntin' for cool suff!
